And the award goes to....
At the end of the year, I like to give each student a surprise award. To do this, I have created an original award for each student. It is just one of the ways that I recognize how awesome they are in a specific way. There are 25 award templates here. Each award is a half of sheet of standard copy paper. I print mine on card stock so that they last longer. All you need to do is print, fill in a name, grade and date. Poof - all done.
The awards range from Terrific Time Keeper Award, the Positive Attitude Award, the Delightful Dancer Award, etc. When I hand out the awards to students, I recall a special memory of each student that makes me want to give them an award for it.
My students have always loved this so I am sharing it with others.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for twelve years. My first three years were in a fourth grade classroom. I have spent the last nine years teaching third grade. While in third grade, I have had the opportunity to train as a Literacy Coach with the Literacy Collaborative at Lesley University. As a Literacy Coach, I've worked with teachers in grades 3-6 to support their teaching of literacy. I have led many professional development sessions on reading workshop, writing workshop, poetry workshop and word study for my colleagues. I had the opportunity to teach a session at one of the Literacy Collaborative's summer workshops. I'm hoping to share my literacy experience with other dedicated teachers.
