This collection of "Student Choice Reading Activities" is a project based collection of reading activities that allows students to *choose* the methods they prefer to use in demonstrating their mastery of reading skills and strategies. The points based projects were developed using the original Bloom's Taxonomy (key verbs underlined in each project - and a newer version of the taxonomy is now available so I plan to update the product this summer of 2011 and include a few scoring rubrics with it as well). There are some great activities here that i can use with my low level english class as we study a novel together. The students are mostly disengaged boys so the arty / drawing tasks will be especially useful. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Help
I've taught 4th grade (all subjects) for nine years and sixth grade (English Language Arts) for two years as well as 3rd and 5th grade summer school for five years. As of the end of the 2010-2011 school year, I have a total of ten years teaching experience. The age group and content I teach are both VERY exciting as they provide me personal and professional growth opportunities while building relationships. Rewarding.
