This is a homeroom/advisory activity that is done to help students manage goals. The areas are academic, social, personal, and physical. To start this activity, I usually share with my students my own goals in those areas. This way they have an idea of what they can say and they won't think of this activity as "silly". It is important to follow up on the goals with conferences (once a month is ideal). Well, as often as you can. It wouldn't be very good to set these goals and not have any follow through! It also really helps you get to know your advisory group outside of just academics. I learned quite a bit from my kids during our goal-conferences. And, they often asked me how I was doing on mine--even outside of advisory classtime. This activity, if done right, is very worthwhile.

Help
I currently teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry to 7th and 8th graders in the Northern suburbs of Chicago. I have been teaching since 2004, and I have noticed that many of the units I'm looking for aren't already bundled in a nice package...so I made them myself! To help YOU, my fellow teachers, find the "bundles" I've been looking for! I have put much time into creating my supplemental materials and units. Through sharing and observation of my self-created lessons, colleagues have suggested that I find a way to share the materials I have created. I hope you find my materials helpful! PLEASE email me at: jkreiseder@yahoo.com if you have questions! If you have suggestions for my materials, please let me know. If I agree, I'll fix it and send you back an updated version.
