These study guides were made to be used with Scott Foresman Science text (4th grade edition - red book). They cover all the questions on both A and B forms of the chapter and unit tests. It forces the student to review the lessons in the chapter to complete the questions on the study guide. They can be given at the end of chapters/units to study before the tests; or even at the beginning of the chapters/units to be completed as you work through them.
It is helpful to have the questions, but no answers are provided which makes this tool rather inpractible for my use (ie as a study guide for my 4th grade son prior to his test at school). Without the answers, I needed to read/learn each entire unit and chapter in order to determine if my son's answers were correct. Good idea though.

I'm glad the study guides are helpful and I hope you will continue to use them without "spilling the beans". They were made for teachers to give to students to be sure they review the chapters before tests. Answers aren't offered on purpose --- teachers know that they are the exact questions that are on the test! :)
The tests offer a mixture of multiple choice answers, fill in the blank (usually with a word bank), and even short essay response questions.
It is good to hear that you work with your fourth grader when they are studying - and even relearning the material as you go along - sometimes we teachers do the same with each new lesson - but don't tell - we are supposed to know everything :)
