Summarizing is a great way for students to identify important information and support their comprehension, especially in the content areas!
With this strategy poster, students are taken through the FIVE steps of creating a quality summary "GIST" sentence for a page, chapter, or book! Students can record their key words and summary sentences on sticky notes, a T-chart, the margins, a two-column chart in their notebooks/journals... the possibilities are endless!
