This is a 17 slide powerpoint that introduces the difference between important and unimportant information when reading a text. It discusses why this is an important strategy and how it can be applied.
Following the instruction there is a modeled and guided practice to work on summarizing, Note Taking, and Identifying Main Idea.
At the end of the powerpoint students are directed to read an article provided by the teacher to supplement the lesson. I would love to hear what you think! Rebecca@ReadingInnovations (check out my website www.readinginnovations.com for more reading resources!)
