Are you and your students as thrilled about summer's arrival as we are? Celebrate the end of the school year with this fun practice and review activity! Your students will put their knowledge of coordinate systems, coordinate graphing, and ordered pairs to work creating a mystery picture with a seasonal theme for summer. Students plot points from a list of ordered pairs and then connect the dots to form a sailboat figure. The coordinate plane includes positive numbers only. A key is included to show how the finished figure should appear.

The full version includes 9 pages: cover, tips for teaching coordinate graphing, coordinate list, blank graph page, two answer keys showing both the simple design plotted on the grid as well as a colored version, and a copyright statement. I have also included the coordinate list and blank graph page in a no-images black and white version for those who need to be conservative with ink.

Can I print out the coordinates without the background pictures? I have to buy my own ink and so don't need the extra art on the sheet with the coordinate points.

Suzy - The edited file has been posted. You can now choose a decorated or a plain coordinate list and blank graph sheet. The plain version is black and white and does not have any images or background color.

I have been a public school teacher in a highly respected district in the Atlanta metro area for the past 12 years. I have taught very diverse students, usually all together in one group! After teaching fourth grade for ten years, I am now teaching a computer lab special to 3 and 4 year olds, and loving it! I am also the technology coordinator for my public, special needs school.
