Erica, I like your ideas and have downloaded a lot of your creations. I wonder though why you have chosen the font you use for the seed to plant unit and the spring word wall words. I find some of the letters not what I normally teach the grade one students (like the stylized p and a). I really prefer the kid-friendly font that you used in the thematic file folder word wall. Keep up the good work.

Hi, I like to expose my students to a variety of fonts because in real life not everything is written in Comic Sans. My students have never had a problem reading anything in stylized font. If it were a handwriting packet I woud definitely have chosen a different font. I am sorry to disappoint you. My suggestion is that you try it with your students. You could even ask them if they know what letter the "a" is and make a little mini-lesson about the different ways letters are written. When I taught kindergarten, I would even do a font sorting activity. I would make a sheet of all different letter a's and whatever other letters we were studying at the time. Then I would have them sort the letters under the "kid-friendly" version and glue. This also works with newspaper/magazine letters. Thanks for your purchase. I do appreciate your business.
