This updated unit is in the Understanding By Design format containing daily plans, standards, and all handouts, projects, rubrics, and tests for the entire unit entitled, "Who am I"? It is a highly creative, high interest and energy unit that is made up of song lyrics, a graffiti project, a screenplay project, and many other aspects of popular culture.
This unit is the first unit in a five unit 1/2 year course taught in a block schedule.
Please note....the LARGE majority of the projects, rubrics, and handouts mentioned in the unit plan are included at the end of the unit; however, a few are not. If they are not attached here, I do not have them available. Thank you.

Although the author states that some things are not available, the copy I downloaded had duplicate pages and was missing quite a bit of overall content. I think for the price, the content should have been accurate and organized more clearly.
It is, indeed, a great unit of study that is thorough and creative. I was disappointed in its organization and missing components.

I just found out I was being moved to 7th grade ELA instead of 6th and I needed to change my novels. I had already planned for Freak The Mighty. I'm so glad I found this. I really enjoyed working with this novel, and this guide helped me even more. Most of my students really got into reading and understanding the novel. The screenplay and courtroom terminology really helped the students a lot.

If you would like to give me a mailing address I can email you the hard copies of what I have. Some of the items listed have to be made by you, they are not something I can send. For example, the color coded packet must be photocopied by you. I cannot copy colored paper packets for students via an attachment. The Reading Guide, the Emoticon handout, the Graffiti Project handout (although I do believe it is attached as it is seen in my screen) and the notes I can send you a hard copy as I no longer have electronic ones. What exactly is it that you would like me to potentially scan or fax? And there is no such link for the music collage, I created the collage myself using multiple downloaded songs, recorded those to CDs and recorded the song portion to tapes. It is quite an arduous process. Please let me know what it is EXACTLY that you are asking about and I will see what I can do.

And for some of the things mentioned in the unit I no longer even do them do so I do not have such either. Sorry. I am going to attach this to the unit description so that future buyers are aware that not EVERY SINGLE thing the unit mentions is available. Some things may have to be self created. Thank you.
