This is a complete lesson plan where students will find the surface area of cylinders using the surface area formula.
There is also an activity on finding the surface area by opening the figure into a net and calculating the area of each of the three figures.
There is an additional worksheet included on finding the surface area of a cylinder that is missing one of its bases.
This lesson plan includes an opening activity, minilesson with guided steps through the process, examples, class activities and a worksheet for homework. Answer keys included.
Common Core standards included on cover page for 6th and 7th grades, (but this lesson also works well with high school grades).

NOTE: You may need Equation Editor or MathType to make changes to some of the fractions or symbols.
