These two Math Centers provide opportunities to practice creating symmetrical pictures in a fun way.
"Symme-tree" has students working in pairs to decorate a Christmas Tree. A worksheet is supplied as a "written" application to this activity and also provides practice in tally marks, graphing and interpreting data.
"Snowflake symmetry" is played to the rules of the memory game and has students finding matching halves of snowflakes. The recording activity has students creating their own symmetrical snowflakes by cutting and pasting shapes.
Your students are sure to have much fun and practice with symmetry while creating attractive decorations for your classroom!

Great lesson. Done well. When creating, keep in mind of cost of printing. If there is too much background, it uses too much ink. Maybe have a black and white printer friendly version.

I taught in an independent school in Port Elizabeth, South Africa for 16 years prior to the birth of my daughter.
