Use these Synonym Scramble cards to help students improve their vocabularies and to enhance their letter-pattern recognition skills.
These were designed to be cut into cards and laminated so that students can write their responses with dry-erase pens directly on the cards. A Student Recording Sheet is included so students can keep track of which cards they have completed. These would be great at a Synonym Center or as work for fast finishers.
Alternatively, the pages could be used as worksheets for bell work, extra enrichment, filler, or homework. Just print and cut. These will print out fine in color or in grayscale. Extend the activity by having students choose three of the synonyms to use in sentences on the back of the paper.
Be sure that students know that they do not have to complete the six synonyms in order. Skipping the difficult ones to come back to later is an important solving strategy. Students should also cross off the clouds they have used.
This download includes:
-12 half-page Synonym Scramble Cards
-Student Recording Sheet

My passion is creating high quality, ready-to-use teaching resources. I believe our future depends on our children being able to think creatively and critically, so I incorporate higher level thinking skills into almost everything I create.
Most of my experience is in gifted education grades 1-4. But I have also taught regular education to all elementary grade levels. I've taught workshops on writing and have had extensive experience teaching elementary science as well as technology.
I have also written a series of 6 creative and critical thinking books for Evan-Moor as well as several other books of teacher materials.
In addition, I am a published author of over 100 nonfiction books for children on a variety of subjects.
You can see the books I've written here:

I am also the author of several blogs:
Minds in Bloom
(FacilitatingCreative and Critical Thinking Skills)
"Quotes" for Teachers
(An organized collection of quotes to use in your classroom)
I am also an administrator on:
"Tchr2Tchr
(Articles, contests, and Linky Parties from TpT sellers)
And of course there is also Facebook and Twitter
