This UPDATED 22 page packet will help teach your students that they are synthesizing when their thinking grows and changes. It takes an abstract concept and simplifies it through the imagery of nesting dolls. You can use this packet with or without nesting dolls, but I highly recommend them! This idea was inspired by Tanny McGregor's book, Comprehension Connections! It includes lesson plans matched up to a common core standard, exit slips, posters, think aloud nesting cards, and nesting paper dolls to help your students grasp the concept... literally! For a sneak peek, check out the preview file!
This is great! Students will love the activities. This is one of my favorite files.

Synthesis is such a touch concept to present. This tool is a visual tool that many students seem to relate to.

Great visuals. Very useful in the classroom. I too would like to know if you're creating any more of these.

Brilliant! These are so practical and effective! I was wondering if you have or would be creating the rest of the question stem lessons. I have 3 of the 8 sets, but do not see the others on your site. Please let me know when and if you will have them available. Thank you!

These are so cute and great for getting kids thinking about higher-level thinking skills! :)

In regards to Kristine's question: Do we need to re-download for anything? Thanks!
You do not need to redownload the map unit. I just uploaded it again to help a customer. She had trouble with the download for some reason. If you are referring to the synthesis unit, I did make some changes a few weeks ago.

I have downloaded this and I though the plans would be included, so I wonder if you would mind sharing/including your actual lesson plan for teaching this? Understanding Synthesizing can be tricky for my second graders. Thanks!
I blogged about it last year here: http://oneextradegree.blogspot.com/search/label/synthesizing. I'll try to find the time to add it to the file later, but for now, hopefully this will suffice. :)
