Use this triangular-shaped organizer to have students really focus on what's happening in the news. It is short, but complete. It includes the 5 W questions (Who? What? When? Where? Why?) and How?. The challenge for students is to KISS (Keep it Short Students). They have to write it in 15 words (one word on line 1, two words on line 2, and so on.)

I have taught for 36 years at the 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade levels. Fifth grade is my first love. I teach all major subject areas. In addition to my regular classroom duties, I have taught in a Basic Skills summer school program for many years as well as taught workshops to co-workers in whole language and technology.
