All you need is a set of Takaradi Tiles or Jenga to engage your students in a great word work activity. Simply use a permanent marker (in your favorite color) and write sight words/vocabulary words on each block. Then, allow the students to use this sheet to record all of the words they can read to their group/partner. My students simply love this activity and they don't even realize how much they are learning! The student will record each word in order as they read it, and some blocks are even worth extra points. Of course, if the tower falls, just instruct them to quickly rebuild. The person who makes it fall loses a turn. At the end of the time limit set by you, the students can determine who has "won" the Takaradi Game by the person who has the most words that they can read!
