In the world of Taxicab Geometry, what is the distance formula? What does a circle look like? What is the value of pi? Students will discover the interesting things that happen when you change a basic rule in geometry: traveling in diagonal lines is no longer allowed. Circles look like squares and pi is a rational number! As a prerequisite, students should have an understanding of the definition of circle, circumference, diameter, pi, and the distance formula. The key is included with pictures of sample student graphs. There is also an extension where students use the definition of between and midpoint and see how it looks in Taxicab Geometry.
