I taught for thirty-two years, and in that time I saw the quality of children’s valentines deteriorate from shoddy pieces of schlock to even shoddier pieces of schlock whose real purpose was to promote the latest children’s movie, video game, toy, TV show, and/or pre-adolescent heart throb. Sick unto death of contributing to the crassness of this overly hyped holiday, I decided one year to create my own valentines. If you feel as I do, then my cards may return some of the innocence and fun this holiday has lost over the years.
