Learning Multiplication Facts
I use these lessons as overhead transparencies for introducing multiplication. I like to give the students the same lesson packet at their desk. Each lesson concludes with a quick quiz, so the teacher and students and teacher can see if the skill or concept presented has been mastered right away. Just fill in the answers on the overhead given out by student participants. (Also please see other multiplication quizzes and ideas I have posted that work with this.)
Topics Covers
Lesson 1 Multiplication is away to put equal groups together.
Lesson 2: Using arrays (columns & rows of shapes) to solve multiplication sentences.
Lesson 3: Multiplication is repeated Addition.
Lesson 4: Commutative Property
Lesson 5: Zeros and Ones
Lesson 6: Fives, Tens, Elevens
Lesson 7: Twos and Fours
Lesson 8: Nines
Lesson 9: Using a Multiplication Chart especially for Threes, Sixes, Sevens, Eights, and Twelves.
Lesson 10: More Strategies to memorize your facts especially for Threes, Sixes, Sevens, Eights, and Twelves.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Subject Area:
I have taught elementary school for 8 years with the majority of my experience in teaching 3rd grade in an urban setting with a majority of bilingual students. I speak some Spanish so I am better able to communicate with the parents of my students. I have also taught for one year each in 2nd and 4th along with sub experience in grades 1st & 5th as well. Currently alongside teaching third grade I am a mentor to new teachers as well as a workshop presenter on topics including Reading Strategies, Math Interventions, Classroom Management and Technology in the Classroom. I've also worked with children from infant to 18 years in other settings including early childhood development centers, after-school programs, summer camps, at-risk youth programs, juvenile detention centers and Special Olympics.
