Telling Time Clocks Math Centers: Play Catch at 3 Levels-
NEWLY REVISED WITH NEW CLIP ART!
Match Baseball Clocks to Digital Times in Gloves + Original Poem

31 Page Download - 2 Ways to Play - Baseballs with digital times to the hour, half hour and five minute intervals match up to baseball gloves with clock faces. Play as a simple pick a baseball game or as a magnetic game with bats that have magnetic tape on the end as described below. There are 2 pages of each level of the digital time balls in order to have students play with a partner. The directions below are to print the baseballs back to back with reverse images of the baseballs, and then you just cut the baseball sheets into squares with the baseballs on them. OR you choose not to have backings in which case you will NOT print the plain baseballs OR you can print the file as is and then glue the plain baseballs to the backs of the clock baseballs.

To print back to back:

Print pages 1 & 2(these directions and seller information).
Print pages 3-8– balls with clock faces for students to read.
Place the pages with the baseball clocks FACE UP and FACING YOU into the printer’s paper tray.
Now print pages 9-14, and the reverse images of the baseballs will print out on the backside.
Print pages 15-20 which are baseball glove gameboards with digital times on them
(2 different gameboards at each of the 3 levels).

Pages 21 & 22 contain an original poem to help your students learn about the hands of a clock.

Pages 23 and 24 are 2 OPTIONAL pages of Time Teller Awards in color and black and white.

Pages 25 -30 are OPTIONAL pages of scenery with trees and baseball players to make things a bit more realistic. You can turn a file folder lid or copy paper lid upside down, and decorate it by folding the sheets of scenery lengthwise down the middle and placing them over the sides of the lid. Then place the baseballs clock side down into the box. You could also place a sheet of green construction paper in the bottom of the lid.

Cut the ball sheets on the paper cutter into 12 square cards each. Balls can simply be placed text side down, and students draw a ball card OR for more fun, place a paper clip on each ball and use page 31 as described next:
Page 31 is another OPTIONAL page with 4 sets of baseball bats. Print out the page of bats (last page) on stiff paper or tape them onto rulers or straws. There is a front and back to each bat, so simply cut out front and back as one piece, and then fold lengthwise. Place a piece of magnetic tape on the end of each bat. Students “hit” a ball with a bat as the paper clip adheres to the magnetic tape.
Then the student matches the clock face that is on the ball with the correct digital time that is on the baseball glove gameboards. If the time drawn has already been matched, the baseball goes back into the ballpark. The winner is the student with the most matches on their gameboard.

This activity can grow with your students at various levels of blending onsets and rimes.

Another Way to Play –
Individuals can use this activity independently. Just give them one set of the balls at an appropriate level and the matching glove gameboard to match up.
