I created this flipchart for a lesson about the Tennessee Government. It explains the 3 branches of state government in a simple and understandable manner. Topics covered are lawmakers, the governor, and judges.
The school was in Cleveland City, located in Bradley County, Tennessee. The page about lawmakers shows a map of the counties in East Tennessee with a picture of the representative for Cleveland City. While this was especially useful for a lesson taught in Cleveland, it could be used somewhere else just as an example. You could also alter that page as needed/desired.
There are a few slides about the governor's mansion in Nashville. I included this information and pictures because my students has asked me specifically where the governor lived. I explained that while the governor had to move to a new house when he was elected (which the students seemed to find unfair at first), that his new house was very nice.
There is a slide for each branch of the government, explaining what their job is, and showing a picture of the members of that branch.
Thanks for downloading! Enjoy!
