Designed for students to review and practice important reading and test taking skills with reproducible practice exercises in the following areas:
word analysis (root words, word analysis/phonics to recognize new words via decoding skills)
vocabulary-synonyms, antonyms, context clues for determining meaning, recognizing the correct meaning of a word that has multiple meanings.

comprehension-14 reading passages that include nonfiction, fiction and poetry, multiple choice and open ended questions for each passage with tag lines that identifyu the skill addressed in each question.

Reading skills- determining the meaning of words, identifying supporting ideas (fact/details, sequentioal order, written directions, setting), summarizing written text (main ideas/themes), perceiving relationships like cause/effect, predictions, similarities/differences), inferences and generalizations, character analysis, fact/opinion, author's purpose, genre identification, literary elements, figurative language.

study skills-using table of contents, the index of a book, identifying appropriate sources of information, understanding the title page, using a library card catalog, interpreting graphs, dictionary skills and interpreting a map.
