Text Type What Text Type am I Cards Genre/Parts of Speech - PDF file
3 page resource file, designed by Clever Classroom.
Most teachers use these cards to conclude genre writing lessons or as a revision time, with the whole class.
Ask students the questions on the card and they need to work out what text type you are thinking of. Students need to have some knowledge and experience with text types.
You get 11 small cards (and one how to use this resource page), with open-ended questions or prompts that describe various parts of speech, all on one file.
These cards would be ideal to use with the whole class and then perhaps in small groups especially for the older grades.
Children will come to learn various characteristics, structures and features of text types.
Genres covered include;
recount, procedure, information report, narrative, description, explanation, exposition, discussion, personal response, poetry, review and discussion. There is one card for each of these text types.
Each card has 3-4 questions or prompts and the answer at the bottom for the reader to refer to.
Question or prompt examples include; you may see me on the back of a DVD cover (review), my purpose is to entertain (narrative)
Ask Clever Classroom a question. They will receive an automated email and will return to answer you as soon as possible.
