The Art Lesson ~ Tomie dePaola ~ Language Arts Workbook ~ 2nd Grade

March 2013--This product has been updated and improved!! In addition to all of the skills listed below, this workbook now covers more areas in language arts as seen on the state test and benchmark tests, including questioning skills, sentence correction, more compare/contrast, and writing skills. If you want to cover many of the new common core standards using old curriculum, this is a great solution!

This is a 22 page workbook to accompany the story "The Art Lesson" by Tomie dePaola. Skills covered include: author's purpose, context clues, facts and details, comparing/contrasting, consonant clusters, digraphs, compound words, inferences, quotation marks and punctuation, summarizing, contractions, syllables, predicting, fact/opinion, parts of speech, singular and plural nouns, synonyms and antonyms, suffixes, multiple meaning words, true/false, homophones, reference materials, verb tense, sequencing, making connections, main idea/details, picture clues, vocabulary, pronouns, proper nouns, subject/predicate, spelling, main idea of a page, details to be added to a page, analogies, sentence combining, correct word order in sentences, ABC order, grammar, soft and hard c and g, sentence types, matching letter sounds, guide words, and cause and effect. This has been an invaluable tool in covering state standards and helping my students with comprehension and numerous language arts skills.

The page numbers referenced in this workbook correspond to the story in the Houghton Mifflin® Anthology "Delights" from their California Reading program. If you are using another version of "The Art Lesson", this will still be useful to you, but you may have to modify a few things.
