This PowerPoint presentation is the first of four in a unit titled, "The Changing Earth", which includes the lessons, "What Are the Earth's Layers?", "How Does the Earth's Crust Move?", "What Changes the Earth's Surface?", and "How Do Rocks Reveal Changes on the Earth?". These are all based upon information from the fifth grade Scott Foresman Science textbook. This particular PowerPoint presentation contains thirteen slides that present students with information about the Earth's atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, crust, mantle, and core. This PowerPoint presentation, as well as the others in the series, were designed by Marie Wimsett.

I have been an elementary teacher for the past 15 years. I began my career teaching fourth grade. After four years, I moved to the fifth grade level, where I taught for nine years before returning to fourth grade. In addition to working as an elementary teacher, I have been a part-time lesson designer for the Library of Congress.
