This is a book study on the book, The Emperor's Egg. There are 5 adorable and motivating reading response graphic organizers as well as a kid and teacher friendly scoring rubric. As an added bonus, I created a non fiction activity about emperor penguins. I use it as a guided reading story and the students turn it into a foldable! It is a great way to incorporate science! This book study has been a favorite of my students for 4 years.

Love this book and am glad I didn't have to "reinvent the wheel" creating stuff for it. One thing I did modify was the penguin booklet. To help "conserve" paper, I gave each student ONE 4x18 strip. Had them fold in half, then in half again. Then flipped the end pages the opposite way (yes, accordian, but my directions made it easier for them follow). We glued the pages in order - guided lesson. It became a "circlular book" -- when you get to page 5, you "flip" like you're turning the page and continue reading. After page 8, flip again and the story starts over. The kids LOVED this. I can get 3 strips cut from one 12x18 construction paper instead of 2 strips and have to tape together (as in your instructions). Thanks so much for providing the activities springboards for this great book!
