This is a diffentiated activity or assessment to go along with The Enormous Turnip. I've written sentences to go along with the story. The kids just have to cut them out and put them in order. They can do this individually or in groups. Sometimes I'll have them draw a picture to go with the sentences, too. The differentiated part is that the sentences are written at three different reading levels, so that you can assess what your students truly know, rather than how well they can read the assessment.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching since 2000. I taught sheltered 6th grade in a low-income district near Chicago for 4 years, and 3rd and 4th grade for two years. I also taught 2nd and 3rd grade summer school. I earned National Board Certification in 2008. I currently work as an ESL/ELL specialist teacher for K-5. I do both small group (pull-out) teaching as well as co-teaching in regular classrooms.
