I could really see my students get into this, I think it would be a great way for them to understand characterization!

Fun idea. We have "Character Dress Up Day" at my school - on or near Oct. 31 ;)- and encourage the kids to bring the book about the character they dress as. This would be a fun activity to do with that!

Great idea; requires higher-level thinking on the part of students as they assume the role of a character from a book/short story

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Grades Taught:

6th grade: Math, Science, Communication Arts (Reading and Language Arts) 7th Grade: Math & Communication Arts I have worked with all types of students (gifted, special ed., and at-risk). Piloted two cutting edge programs for the district The Six Computer Classroom: I was given 6 computers to use in my classroom as a test to see how to incorporate technology more effectively into the every day lessons. I later became a trainer for other teachers on how to effectively use 6 computers in the classroom as well as developed organizational tools for teachers to aid in their planning. I also presented at the “The Governor’s Wisconsin Educational Technology Conference” Determination House: A program that grouped 65 at-risk students together with the goal of increasing their reading level a minimum of two or more years in a one year time period. This was achieved by teaching students strictly according to their learning style. I was trained in teaching students using the multiple intelligence, specifically using strategies that worked with left-brained students. Later I worked as a consultant writing lessons and providing input for an 8th grade group of teachers working to achieve the same goals. I also presented at an at-risk conference sharing the results we achieved through this unique grouping and teaching methods. Other information: mentor teacher, former member of the districts "Differentation Leadership Team", Literacy Team, Technology Team, etc.
