This worksheet based on The Giver by Lois Lowry introduces students to the word 'euphemism' and shows how it is used in Jonas' society. Although it is stressed in the Community to use precision of language, much of the language used is not precise, but is in fact a euphemism for something else. Students will explore what is really meant by certain words.
