This 25 page lecture designed for an Advanced Placement (AP) American History class, covers the Great Dperession and New Deal era of American history.
Major topics covered include: The causes of the Great Depression, the economy of the 1920s, the policies of Herbert Hoover: the Agricultural Marketing Act, the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, the hawley-Smoot Tariff, and Voluntarism. The New Deal policies of FDR are also covered, policies such as: the Bank Holiday, the Emergency Banking Act, the Agricultural Adjustment Act, the National Industrial Recovery Act, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Civilian Conservation Corps, Social Security Act, AFDC, the Wagner Act. In addition the depression's impact on American society is also covered, concepts such as the Dust Bowl, Hoovervilles and the Bomus Army are included. Critics such as Father Coughlin, Huey Long and Dr. Francies Townsend are also covered, as well as the Communist and Socialist Parties. I been teaching for nine years. During that time period I have taught Advanced Placement American Government in an International Baccalaureate program to 10th graders. In addition have also primarily taught time Advanced Placement American History and Dual Enrollment American History. Currently I also teach teach U.S. History honors to 11th graders.
