This 20 page file contains cute writing page templates for a class books based on "The Important Book" by Margaret Wise Brown.
The Important Book is a great model of two things: 1. determining importance and 2. the organization of a simple paragraph.
One of the best things about "The Important Book"is how adaptable it is to make a class book! You can make an important book about any topic at all!
This file provides five great templates for writing about people or things. The templates include pronoun usage for "I," "he," "she," "they," and "it."
I've also included 8 different options for covers, in black and white and color customizable to different topics.
Lastly, for an illustrated class book, I've included 3 pages with frames to frame photographs or illustrations!
IDEA FOR USE:
For a get to know you activity, have students interview each other with the interview question provided or read their partner "Back to School Fandex" (check out this fun product at my store) and then from there, they have to determine the most important thing about their partner and interesting details. Then, have their partner introduce them to the class. I've included a special cover entitled, "Important Book: All About Us" to go with this activity!

This is a lesson I've done in the past, but I never had a great outline for the students to use to fill out their pages. I love this!!! My first graders came up with some WONDERFUL writing!! I even had one boy tell me the most important thing about him is that he is "odvenris" = adventurous!!!!! Love it!!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a teacher in my mind for as long as I can remember! So many times, I fought with my sister and her friends to listen to me teach little lessons and grade fake papers. "School" was my favorite thing to play! Now I get to play real school everyday! I have been a "real" teacher for four years. My second home is in a bright, colorful third-grade classroom in Iowa full of bright, colorful little learners.
