The KIS Approach to English Grammar and Composition comes as a result of 35 years of teaching English and hearing legitimate complaints of confusion, consternation, and contempt. So my advise is this: Keep It Simple!
Key--This approach uses the verb as the key to understanding sentence structure built with parts of apeech.
Individual--This approach is a text-workbook comprised of packets with 15 pages or less.
Satisfying--Presenting only necessary knowledge for developing the skill of clear writing, this approach provides a sense of accomplishment without the feeling of being overwhelmed.
I like the organization of this product; however, those of us who teach in public school cannot use the sentences that are provide because they are Biblically referenced and based.

Thanks for your two-fold comment. First, the very organization is key to a clearer understanding of our language. Your forthright second comment, motivated a revised curriculum, KIS II for secular settings, as well as an improved KIS I. "As iron sharpens iron," so we can sharpen each other as professionals here at Teachers Pay Teachers!

I began my career in kindergarten, moving next to fourth grade, middle school, and high school. This upward movement through the grade levels saw my progression from all subjects to specifically English arts, and what I call "applied literature," drama. In 2004 I became the administrator of a learning center for needy and homeless women. Working with adults, I saw the need for a grammar and composition curriculum that could fill in the gaps of memory and of missed education. After writing the KIS Approach, I believe that it can serve a much wider audience than that for which it was intended.
