An end of the unit project for S.E. Hinton's novel, The Outsiders. A learning contract type setup allows students to choose from a number of options ranging from index trading cards to movie soundtracks, with the goal of earning 100 points. A "4-square" character diagram is included for further research on a character from the book. It really forces creativity and gets the kids excited about showing what they have learned about themselves. Study guide is not included, and it is suggested that the teacher creates one to accompany the book as it is being read.

I began teaching in 2005 and have quickly learned that quality does not always go hand in hand with experience. I feel that I have developed a core set of very effective lessons and projects, and the quality that my students produce proves this.
