This fourteen page literature unit begins with a vocabulary page which asks students to categorize important words they will need to know. On the unit’s second page, they are asked to use these words, along with information they gather from the front and back covers of the book, to predict what will happen. Students are encouraged to return to this page after reading to gauge the accuracy of their predictions.
Comprehension questions covering the story’s eight chapters are provided on the next four worksheets. These questions are presented in a manner that encourages children to write complete sentence answers. A “What Happened First?” page follows on which students place in correct order the story’s ten most important events. The unit ends with students being asked to write about what costume they might choose to attend their own spooky Halloween party. A complete answer key is provided on thde last four pages of the unit.
