Students learn what a food web is by participating in an interactive SMARTBoard lesson. The teacher reads aloud a humorous story that illustrates how different animals prey on other animals in a grassland habitat. As the story is read, students come up to the SMARTBoard and touch a number box covering pictures of different animals in the food web as they appear in the story until all animals are shown in the food web.
Following the story, the teacher guides the students with an activity sheet that helps students identify the different types of animals in a food web.
Your students will love the story and colorful pictures as they learn "The Tale of the Grassland Food Web."
Very well presented story! My students loved it and really helped them understand what a food web is. The smartboard food web was also a great visual that allowed the students make a connection to what was going on in the story. Excellent product overall.

Hi Rachael,
I just purchased your interactive story about the grassland food web, but it won't let me open the Smartboard activity. Would you mind emailing me the file to see if I could open it that way? Thanks!
Hi there. I will need your email address to send it. Why don't you email me at Rachael.Parlett@gmail.com. Also, make sure you have the SMARTBoard software on the computer that you are trying to open it from. Thanks!

Looks cool, Rachael! I don't have a Smartboard...would this activity work as a simple read aloud? Looks like a great way to intro the concept, but not sure if I can access it all without the smartboard. Thanks!

It would work ok as a read-aloud. The SMARTBoard serves as a visual for the students so they can see how food webs are formed.. Before I had a SMARTBoard I did this same activity except I created a food web with pictures. So you could find pictures of each animal mentioned in the food web and create your own web of animals.

Hi Rachael,
I bought this Smartboard activity and I cannot get it to work on my Promethean Board. We use the ActivInspire software and it allows thme to upload a smartboard or notebook file but it does allow it to be interactive.. I had my tech guy come look at it and he too could not get the file to operate correctly. Am I doing something wrong? or is this file strictly for SMARTboards only?
Hm...I am not familiar with how Promethean Boards work. I do know that many people have downloaded my products containing SB slides and have been able to use it on their Promthean Board without an issue by converting it. If it helps, I can email you the file and maybe that might work? Sometimes just opening it up a different way fixes the issue. Please email me at Rachael.Parlett@gmail.com and I'd be happy to email it to you! Thanks
