This is a fun creative writing project where students choose 4 random numbers, match them to 4 elements of a short story, and then use that as the springboard to creating an original piece of writing. This can be used as a quick writing prompt, a speech or drama activity, an extended writing assignment, or whatever you want it to be. It just helps the students generate interesting ideas for their creative writing.
The difficulty comes in making the short story "work" based on the four random elements. For example, depending on the student's numbers, their story might have to center around the generated idea of "a guitar play in a barn at 3:00 a.m. and someone has just broken something."
I'm not a math teachers, but there are A LOT of ways these stories can go depending on the student's numbers and their own creativity.
