PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Three Little Pigs - Kindergarten and 1st Grade CCSS Thematic Unit

Familiar Folktales are a fabulous way to teach literacy skills in an early childhood classroom. This unit uses “The Three Little Pigs” to teach skills such as narrative, opinion and informative writing, comparing story elements in different versions of “The Three Little Pigs,” retelling the stories with character and setting pieces, read aloud booklets, and more! I’ve also included math worksheets that tie the theme into math.

These activities are aligned with Kindergarten 1st Grade ELA and Math Common Core Standards.

Literature and Non-Fiction Text Connections List of recommended fiction and non-fiction texts to use with this unit.

Word Bank Display the word cards and pictures for student reference while writing and reading pig stories.

Story Comparisons Charts ompare different versions of “The Three Little Pigs”.

Sequencing Cards Use in a center or small group to support students with sequencing the events in the story.

Retelling Story Pieces Use in a center or small group to support students with retelling different versions of the story.

“Three Little Pigs” Small Group Read-Aloud Use in a small group setting to support students with decoding and comprehension strategies.
