The Tiger's Heart Figurative Language Workshop
This is a packet of worksheets that focuses on the Figurative Language in The Tiger's Heart by Jim Kjelgaard. It contains,
1) A Figurative Language Workshop which teaches your students the concepts of figurative language such as simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, oxymoron, and synecdoche.
2) An intermediate figurative language quiz and worksheet with an answer sheet included
3) A challenger figurative language quiz and worksheet with an answer sheet included
4) An active reading graphic organizer to help your students identify and chart the figurative language in this or any other novel as they read. For higher level students, I use this graphic organizer while they read the story.
Your students will learn to identify different types of figurative language and this and other stories and will come to understand these stories in the process.

I worked as an ESL teacher trainer for the US Refugee Program in Morong Bataan, Philippines for 7 years. I have lived and worked in Niger, West Africa, Sudan, The Philippines, Thailand, and Saipan. I am currently teaching High School Language Arts at Marianas High Scool in Saipan I have over 25 years of teaching experience.
