Travel back in time to 1627! Students are now pilgrim boys and pilgrim girls as they learn about colonial life and how it compares to their current life.
Note: You should have a copy of the following books for this lesson-
- Sarah Morton's Day: A Day in the Life of a Pilgrim Girl and Samuel Eaton's Day: A Day in the Life of a Pilgrim Boy by Kate Waters.
I used this in my class and it was a great review and cross-curricular activity since we're learning about colonial times and I had these books handy. I will definitely be doing this next year.
One of our favorites. I take a picture of the boys in a tricorn hat for "then" and the girls in a bonnet. On the other side is a photo of them as they look today - "now. One of my students came up with the idea! Thanks so much.
You're welcome! We hope your students enjoy it! :) Thanks!! :)

I can't wait to do this with my students! I think I might make the writing space bigger for my second graders, though. Luckily, this resource is easily adaptable : )
Great to hear! We hope your students enjoy it! :) Thanks!!

Your work is always so amazing! This fit right into my second grade standards. My kids really learned a great deal from doing this pilgrim study! Thank you!
I used this with my first graders this year. I appreciate that it is a fun activity--but meaty too! My kids were able to demonstrate their learning in a fun way.
This is great to hear! So glad you found this activity beneficial for your kiddos. Thanks :)

I find it hard at times to find great social studies lessons/activities to use with my students. I always want to make it fun and this activity was just wonderful to use!!! Thank you :0
