This 15 page guided reading plan for the novel "Things Not Seen" by Andrew Clements can be used with your entire class or with a small group. It contains detailed directions on leading student discussions, concise summaries of student readings, techniques to foster student self monitoring of comprehension, and much more. At the end of the plan you will find a blank story map, Connection Type List, Question Type List, student Comprehension bookmark, Thinknote master, and a Plot Line Diagram. All you need are some sticky notes and copies of the novel.
Great resource to pull ideas out of & builds background knowledge for teachers that may have not read the book... Vocabulary pages were accurate to the book that I read also! For the questions (right there, author & me...) and connections- I would have provided starters to help students understand how to develop higher order thinking questions. The thinknotes were easy to understand & great for guiding/comprehending the reading!
