This lesson has been improved and enhanced! I just added a sample narrative to teach story elements from, followed by a comprehension question page. Students will answer questions about the character, setting, and sensory details from the sample narrative!
Your students will write awesome narratives with this lesson plan! Vocabulary words such as dialogue, character development, setting and much more are broken down into kid friendly language. Creativity is encouraged while students follow a formula for writing interesting stories. Character conflict and resolution are examined, as students have to create an interesting problem for their main character to solve. The lesson is designed with the new Common Core Standards in mind, but leaves plenty of room for imagination and creativity! There is also an art extension activity for early finishers to give you time to confer with your struggling writers.
Some of the elements included in the development and planning phases of the lesson are:
-Dialogue between characters
-Story events or plot development
-Transition words and phrases for sequence and order of events
-Utilizing specific nouns
-Having a concluding sentence
Please note: I also sell this lesson in a 3rd grade bundle with the Common Core Opinion Writing Piece! Please do not purchase this product as well as the bundle, or you will be duplicating your purchase!
