Teaching speech can be complex because so many aspects go into making a successful speech lesson. This item has instructions for three types of speeches, along with sample speeches to help guide students. Included:
* Instructions for a how-to speech for food, and a sample outline.
* Instructions for a how-to speech for non-food, and a sample outline.
* Instructions for a most prized possession speech, and a sample outline.
* A speech rubric, and an outline rubric.
All sample speeches have an attention gainer, introduction, thesis statement, at least two main points, and a conclusion. They are sentence outlines, not topic outlines. They are not researched speeches.
I have used the speech rubric for years, and have modified it to include the areas needed to fairly grade students.
Along with the sample speeches, I have provided ideas for students' speeches.
This item will get you through three speeches, or about four weeks of class time (dependent on the size of the class). I primarily teach these with sophomores, but will work with grades close to that. Please email me if you have questions and thanks for coming by.

I have taught at the high school level for almost eight years, instructed ACT courses, and written lesson plans and units for Book Rags. I taught for a year at an alternative school, grades 6-12.
