As digital clocks become more common than analog clocks, it becomes much more difficult to teach children how to read an analog clock. This seven page handout entitled, It's About Time, is a suggested sequence for teaching students how to tell time beginning with an analog clock. It starts with the most basic of objectives, "Counting by ones from 1 to 12", and ends with "Read a digital clock". A sample clock which represents the "60 Number Line" is included. The handout also lists 40 children's books that can be used to integrate literature and using time.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since "the earth cooled". My husband is a teacher as well, and together we have over 75 years of teaching in the elementary, middle school, high school and college areas. My focus is mathematics while my husband's is science. We never want to do anything else because we love it! My teaching style is hands-on and energetic while using diverse teaching strategies. I try to teach ordinary things in extraordinary ways.
