This set includes 2 ready to use internet activities that will allow your students to practice reading topographic maps and applying them to real images. The first activity, "Where am I?", has students read a topographic map and then look at a panoramic view picture to determine which way is North, based on landmarks. The second activity, "Discovering Topographic Maps", leads students to make judgments on locale based on the topographic maps. It then gives them to opportunity to look up areas of interest to them. This would work well in a Earth Science, Geography or general science classroom.
The first activity requires QuickTime 3.0 or higher (free download).
