This package provides students with everything they need to complete a Novel Study on Touching Spirit Bear! A complete unit - just print and teach!!!
All activities are classroom tested and include creative handouts, information sheets, detailed instructions, templates, and rubrics!
This creative and engaging package includes the following:
-Comprehension Questions: A complete set of comprehension questions for each chapter of the novel.
-Vocabulary Words: A complete set of vocabulary words to go along with the novel.
-Final Essay Assignment: Students use information learned throughout the unit to answer the Guiding Question: “Do external factors shape our identities?”
-Illustrated Plot Diagram Project: Use this for a final project for the unit! Students create a full color plot diagram, complete with illustrations from the story. A detailed example template is included!!! This project is a great way to review key events from the novel, and make gorgeous wall displays!
-Character Descriptions: Students describe characters from the novel. A great way for students to practice pulling details from text.
-Setting Detail Foldable Library Pockets: Students create a library pocket style foldable describing the setting of the novel. Students cut out, fold, and glue the library pocket together. Students then describe the setting on the included lined paper sheet, and insert the sheet into the library pocket. The square with the setting title on it gets glued on the front, with a student illustration of the setting. Students love this activity because it is hands on and different. Teachers love this activity because the completed library pockets are both beautiful and informative.
-Elements of Literature Notes: No novel study is complete without information on the Elements of Literature. Several pages of information relating to each element (conflict, foreshadowing, etc.) are organized into an easy to read table. A blank student version is included. These notes can be applied to ANY novel or short story!
-Important Events: Students use the space provided on this handout to describe and illustrate key events from the novel. A great review activity!
-The 5W’s: Students use the space provided on this handout to record information on a key scene in the novel, using the 5W’s of Who, What, Where, When, and Why.
-Twenty Questions Activity: Students use this handout to create and answer 20 questions about the novel. A great test review activity!
-Dear Diary: Students choose a character from the novel and write a diary entry about a key scene from their point of view. A great creative writing activity!
