7 pages. I created this project to be a self-directed unit for my geometry students in the transformations chapter. Students learn new terminology: image, preimage, isometry, reflection, line of symmetry, rotation, translation, glide reflection, tessellation, etc... and then create and identify these types of transformations though the creation of a tile and a quilt block.

As part of your description for each rotation, show a sketch of your tile with the center of rotation and angle of rotation drawn in." "Describe the movement that your tile makes from position A to position B (in the overall quilt block). Be as specific as possible, using the geometry terms from this chapter and drawing a sketch of any appropriate lines or centers of symmetry."
This particular version of the project uses warm, autumnal colors (browns and reds), but I could easily change the color scheme to anything you like. Just let me know and I'll get it posted ASAP. A 'cool' version (blues and greens) is available in my store.
The Comprehensive Grading Rubric allows you to evaluate both the aesthetics and the written analysis separately. Allow at least three days or assign as a homework project over a week or so. The results will amaze you (and make a lovely display).
