This is a PowerPoint presentation that I created to use with the book Trapped in Death Cave by Bill Wallace. Each chapter has a reading skill that is taught/reviewed as well as an activity for the kids to complete in their journals. I use this to help guide the students while I meet with other reading groups. The slides can be printed for the group or used whole class. Numerous skills such as visualizing, using content clues, summarizing and making connections are found throughout the slide show. There are many graphic organizers used to help the students record their responses and organize their ideas. You can also use the first slide of each chapter as your mini lesson and then have the 2nd slide as an independent practice if you choose to do this book whole class.

I recommend this to everyone :-) The only thing I would add to this PP is figurative language. This novel is full of examples! This PP is a wonderful addition to this novel. Can't imagine teaching this novel without it!

Hi Kristy,
I just pruchased your ppt, but I am only getting text on the third or 4th slide. I see some random boxes on a few slides. I am able to open other ppts, so I am not sure what the problem is. Any suggestions? Lorie
