This is a fun, engaging power point review lesson on inferencing that ends with the introduction ofa crime-solving project for your students. This 9 slide ppt includes a review of inferences, a slide of personal connections, cartoons, and a micro short story. The last few slides propose a hypothetical bank robbery in your community (change the name to your town) and tell the students they will write a "criminal profile" of the criminal based on their inferences. You will need to provide bags of "trash" that the bank robber "dropped" - I copied things from the internet and made up some receipts. We spent a whole day with partners presenting their "profiles" to the class- the ensuing discussions were great. Your students will enjoy this one! I do have a corresponding worksheet listed separately.
