This vocabulary sheet first has students guess what the words mean by using context clues. Then, students are to match the word to the definition. I use it is a study guide for their vocabulary quiz as well.
I cherish the idea of teaching vocabulary within the context of a text. Thank you for recognizing the value in that. However, when you work with specialized vocabulary--i.e. narcissism, sociology, neurological--the word's context won't be much help to make an educated guess as to the words meaning. The other downside is that in many of the problems there is a context, but there is insufficient context to really make much of a guess.
I sincerely appreciate the method. Just how it's carried out with this vocabulary curriculum is a bit of a struggle. I'd love to work with someone on this text to improve that if anyone's interested.
