This file is a 33 page download of my Turkey Soup Day. This is my spin on a feast in the classroom. Your students will bring in ingredients to make yummy soup and even make butter in class. Included is the letter home to parents and a reminder letter for your students to write.
Your students will make pilgrim hats for boys and girls. The will work word problems and create graphs. They will also listen to The Important Book and create a writing about the important Thanksgiving foods.
There will be a Thanksgiving place mat craft and response sheets that include a venn diagram and a clever turkey writing activity.
Included is my Thanksgiving at the Tappleton's book study. You will find 3 vocabulary sheets. I have my students highlight the words as they come up in the story. Students will listen as you run an interactive read aloud using the printable post its included. Students will sequence the story with picture cards and a numbering sheet.
You students will then tap into their knowlege of customs and traditions from social studies. They will compare their family tradtions to that of the Tappletons'.
This is alwasy a very special day in class and I just know your class will love it as much as mine does.
This file compliments my following Thanksgiving day units. I often combine my The Thanksgiving Story unit with Turkey Soup Day. We reenact the journey while the soup cooks,

Great activities for the Thanksgiving with the Tappletons. I loved this story and the activities were right on track. We will be making Turkey Soup tomorrow. I can't wait and neither can the students.
