The Twilight Zone series featured some of the best short stories on television. These stories are excellent to use as a teaching tool for short story elements. They lead to great discussions in the classroom, and can be used over many grade levels. I started using these episodes many years ago to teach 5th graders how to recognize plot development and turning point. I found having a quick worksheet using multiple choice questions, and sometimes a few open ended questions, was a great way to review literary terms and really spark discussion. The episodes are about 24 minutes long, but often the lesson can go over 45 minutes- students will love to talk about these!
This episode is particularly good for upper Social Studies too, but if you are not familiar with these stories you're probably not looking here anyway! Please let me know if you think I should start adding summaries.
The format might have to be tweaked a little from the download. 10 multiple choice questions on various literary elements; Answer keys are included.
